About

Our Mission is “Celebrating Great Dad’s with Fun and Purpose” because Great Dads are vital to the health and well-being of our spouses and children. Undergirding a Great Dad in their time of need can prevent a tragic cascade of events and life circumstances that destroy families and lives. The presence of a Great Dad is necessary for families’ and our society’s success.

By looking at the statistics, it is easily seen that the need to have Great Dads supporting their spouses and children has a significant impact on levels of family poverty, child sexual promiscuity, criminality and aggression, income inequality, the efficiency of the education system, and suicide rates in young people.

We are currently helping 3 organizations in Metro Philadelphia and 1 in Metro Atlanta.

As we grow, our vision is to develop an interdependent system of For-Profit and Non-Profit organizations, and a branded, self-sustaining ecosystem of products, services, and programs, that support and lift up families with active Dads, and prevent homelessness before it starts. By starting at the root and supporting and developing Great Dads, we can fight against many terrible evils that battle families all over the world.

Statistics

  • More than 64 million men identify themselves as being a father.
  • 18% of the single-parent households are headed by a single father.
  • 2.5 million fathers who are on their own are in a single-parent household. In 1970, there were only 400,000 fathers in this situation.
  • Single-parent families are among the poorest in the nation and as such, are extremely vulnerable to homelessness.
  • 84% of families experiencing homelessness are female-headed. This is due to a number of factors:
  • Most single-parent families are female-headed (71%).
  • Many family shelters do not accept men into their programs, causing families to separate when they become homeless.
  • 17.4 million children live in fatherless homes.
  • There are 1.8 million “solo” dads in the US, roughly about 6% of the fathers in the US live with their minor child without a partner or a spouse.
  • 7 million American dads are absent from the life of all their minor children.
  • Female-led homes with no spouse present had an alarming poverty rate of 47.6% in 2011 — more than four times the rate for kids living in families where both parents are present.
  • Divorces are one of the leading causes of fatherless homes.
  • When it comes to the importance of fathers, statistics can help determine how children see school and education.
  • Father absence statistics show that adolescent women from fatherless homes have a higher chance of getting pregnant.
  • Fatherlessness stats may be linked to higher rates of suicide in high school students.
  • Children from single-parent homes participate in more government nutrition, education, etc. programs.
  • Fatherlessness may be linked to lower educational levels of African American girls.
  • According to the Department of Justice, statistics on parents in prison show that the number of incarcerated fathers in the US grew significantly in the period from 1991 to 2007.
